This season’s real reason…JESUS CHRIST!

I love this time of the year when families and loved ones gather together for food, fellowship, and football. ‘Tis the Season. However, I would be remiss if I did not pause to reflect and refocus on this season’s real reason…JESUS CHRIST!

Luke’s gospel details the dramatic account of Christ’s birth. Despite Mary and Joseph’s family emergencies (a mandatory trip to Bethlehem, traveling pregnant on the brink of delivery, rumors regarding her reputation, and now experiencing no room in the inn), they bonded in love and unity during life’s most challenging time. This couple trusted God with their lives, including that of their newborn baby.

Little did they know that their beautiful child wrapped in swaddling clothes (Luke 2:7) would one day exchange his garments for a scarlet robe (Luke 23:11), and be mocked by soldiers and political officials only to die in public humiliation on a cross between two convicted felons. God allowed Mary to be the instrument that wrapped Jesus in real flesh and blood – His body would one day be bruised, broken, and His blood shed – so we could have eternal life with Him. Let us not forget that Jesus, the Savior of the world, is also the Light of the world, and the Lamb of God. Jesus’ light casts out all darkness and His precious blood removes our sins. Jesus was born to die, and He died that you and I might truly live! Thank God for His most excellent gift, JESUS!

Merry CHRISTmas!
